If they complain about a burning sensation in their feet, or you notice any yellowing, you should make an appointment with the podiatrist to make sure these are not complications from diabetes or another serious problem.
After you’ve determined that there are no serious issues, use this checklist to avoid elderly foot problems:
- Always dry feet completely;
- Elevate the feet while seated;
- Apply lotion to the feet daily;
- Wear shoes and socks that fit properly;
- Keep toenails trimmed straight across and not too short.
