People often ignore foot and ankle problems until they become too painful or disabling to bear any longer. At this point, they have tried every over-the-counter and internet treatment they can find and feel like they are out of options. At North Florida Foot & Ankle Center, we are skilled diagnosticians and have a wealth of treatment options—from conservative to cutting-edge—to finally resolve the issue that has kept you away from the activities you love.
Conditions We Treat in Our Nocatee Office
Anyone can develop a debilitating foot or ankle condition. In our office, we see young children, recreational and elite athletes, professionals who are on their feet all day, people who have diabetes, and others. Regardless of what caused the problem and whether your goal is to walk your dog around the block or compete in the Olympics, our experienced team is here to help. We treat all foot and ankle conditions, including:
- Ankle sprains. Caused by an unnatural twisting or force on the ankle bones of the foot, one or more ligaments on the outside of the ankle can be stretched or torn.
- Bunions. Misaligned big toe joints that can become swollen and tender, bunions cause the first joint of the big toe to slant outward and the second joint to angle toward the other toes.
- Flat feet. Flat feet in adults can cause inflammation; foot and leg fatigue; knee, hip, and lower back pain; abnormal walking patterns; and more. Custom orthotics can help.
- Hammertoes. Hammertoe is a deformity of the second, third, or fourth toe. Left untreated, hammertoes can become inflexible and require surgery.
- Diabetic foot problems. Diabetes decreases blood flow, so foot wounds can happen easily and are slow to heal.
- Heel pain. Plantar fasciitis is commonly traced to an inflammation on the bottom of the foot. Our practice has several options for treating heel pain.
- Corns. Caused by repeated friction from skin rubbing against bony areas or against an irregularity in a shoe, corns can be painful and hard to treat.
- Athlete's foot. A chronic infection caused by various types of fungus, Athlete's foot is often spread in places where people go barefoot, such as public showers or swimming pools.
In addition to these common conditions, we treat all sources of foot and ankle pain and discomfort. Contact us today to schedule an appointment in our Ponte Vedra office today. Located in Nocatee, this is a convenient location for those who live close to the beaches.
